"Nurturing Presence: Embracing Mindfulness for Anxious Children"

As the author of Kay the Kitten, I want to share a personal journey I embarked upon to help my child find peace and presence amidst anxiety. It all started after reading "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle, which opened my eyes to the idea of mindfulness.

I was going through my own spiritual transformation, and reading "The Power of Now" was a profound experience that shifted my perspective on my own life, as well as how to parent my child who suffers from anxiety. It taught me what it means to be fully present, of embracing the here and now, and of cultivating a sense of inner calm. When you take a step back from worrying about the future, or being upset about something in the past, you realize very quickly that in the moment, there is nothing bad happening.

Armed with these valuable insights, I began incorporating mindfulness techniques into our daily routines. I encourage my child to be present and ground themselves in the moment. This simple concept can often be difficult in practice, but it has helped my child navigate the challenges of anxiety and find a sense of calm and reassurance. In Kay the Kitten, you will find echoes of the lessons I learned from "The Power of Now." Through Kay's mother's gentle reminders to "be here with me now" and the reassuring words of the song, "Nothing Bad is Happening Now," I aimed to instill a sense of mindfulness and presence in young readers.

By sharing this journey with you, fellow parents, I hope to inspire you to explore the power of mindfulness for yourself and your children. Take a moment to pause, to connect, and to embrace the present. This starts with us. It means put down your phones, and be fully present when you are spending time with your child.

Let's embrace the teachings of mindfulness and being present, and become the role models our children need in this constantly connected modern society.
